'Languaging' may sound unfamiliar, but it is a day-to-day practice. We often find ourselves talking aloud when we need to clarify a problem. This practice often helps us process our thoughts into objects for further reflection. The notion of 'languaging' is rooted is Vygotsky's sociocultural theory. According to sociocultural theory, language can be used as a cognitive tool to regulate learners' thinking  and to mediate their mental activities. Informed by Vygotsky's sociocultural theory, the term 'languaging' and defines it as "the processof making meaning and shaping knowledge and experience through language" and "a dynamic, never-ending process of using language in order to think through a problem. Learners benefit from both the process of languaging and the product of languaging. Languaging seems to produce ideal condition for noticing and reflection, which are two functions of output hypothesized to facilitate L2 developement.

ㆍLanguaging can be practiced using two different modes, oral languaging(OL) and written languaging(WL).
